About Mind Renew
When traditional approaches aren't enough

Why we exist

Therapy that goes to the root

Depression affects 1 in 9 people globally, with nearly 70% finding no relief after their first treatment. For those struggling with trauma, self-criticism, and deeply rooted patterns, standard approaches often address symptoms without touching the underlying relational fractures.

Mind Renew was founded on a different premise. True healing happens when you learn to meet the wounded and protective parts of yourself with compassion rather than criticism.

Our founder

Founded to heal relational fractures

Mind Renew was founded by Laurentiu Nicolae Costrut, MSc in Clinical Psychology, a psychotherapist specialising in trauma, anxiety, and relational patterns. Trained in Internal Family Systems through The Center for Self-Leadership and Compassion Cultivation at Stanford University, Laurentiu created Mind Renew to make integrative, compassion-focused therapy accessible across Europe.

"I created Mind Renew because shame and self-criticism sit at the root of most psychological suffering. They deserve a dedicated clinical space, built around approaches developed specifically to address them."

Our approach

Internal Family Systems

We help you explore and understand the different parts of your internal system. Protectors work overtime to keep you safe, managers try to maintain control, and exiles carry old wounds.

Through dialogue with these parts, you develop internal cooperation and discover your compassionate Self that can lead with wisdom.

Compassion-Focused Therapy

Our approach

Compassion-Focused Therapy

We strengthen your capacity for self-compassion, an evidence-supported factor in reducing shame, self-criticism, and emotional distress. You learn to meet difficult emotions with the same kindness you would offer a close friend.

Compassion is at the heart of our practice, creating an environment of acceptance and growth where lasting change becomes possible.

Our approach

Polyvagal-Informed Practice

Drawing on Polyvagal Theory, we pay attention to nervous system regulation throughout therapy. Healing happens when your body feels safe enough to access difficult material.

We work at a pace that respects your system's capacity, helping you build the physiological foundation for genuine healing without re-traumatisation.

How we work

The therapeutic process

1

Engage with Internal Parts

We begin by mapping your internal system. The parts that protect you, the ones that carry old pain, and the ones that have been managing your life for years all have a role. Understanding what each part is doing, and why, is where the work starts.

Discover why certain patterns exist in your life
Understand how different parts are trying to help you
Develop internal cooperation between conflicting parts
Access your compassionate Self to lead with wisdom

Our values

Inclusive and queer-friendly

We honour diversity in all its forms and are committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space for individuals of all identities and backgrounds.

Our approach is rooted in respect, openness, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by marginalised communities. We actively work to ensure that our language, practices, and therapeutic methods reflect sensitivity to gender identity, sexual orientation, and diverse life experiences.
